Edward Swonke was a very warm and caring person. He loved his Yamaha motorcycle. I also remember him bringing over a record to play of a new song that had just come out, "If You're Going To San Francisco" by Scott McKenzie. I miss him to this day......

A Note from The Virtual Wall

Fox 2/27 Marines lost two men on 17 March 1968. While on a combat search patrol 14 Kilometers Southwest of Danang Airfield, South Vietnam. Both men dled as a result of fragmentation wounds to the body from an explosive device. They were:

The grandson of Olga and A. F. Swanke, Harris County Texas, CPL Edward A. Swonke was survived by brothers, Kenneth Wayne (1901-2014), Billy (1940- ), Fred and Roy Dale Swonke and sisters, Anna Marie and Joy Gale.

He was also survived by his parents, Doris Irene (1920-1999) and Edward A (1920- ) Swonke. His parents and brother Roy were living on Hamlett Street, Houston, Texas at the time of Corporal Swonke's death.

Corporal Edward Antone Swonke was buried in Houston National Cemetery, Houston Tx.
