Shoulder Patch is that of 69th Infantry Brigade, Kansas/Iowa SP4 George Francis Martinez, age 33, was levied for Vietnam after being mobilized with the 69th Infantry to Fort Carson Colorado. He went to the 25th Infantry Division, arriving in Vietnam on 20 Feb 1969 and was killed about 3 1/2 months later when he and three other members of his unit were struck by a booby trap while on patrol. The other three men had been drafted into the service. The four men killed, all from D Company, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division were:
