The 1st Bn, 77th Armor lost 3 men on 22 March 1971 when their night defensive position came under an artillery, rocket and mortar attack by unknown size enemy force. Another unit in the 5th Division lost one man on this day when the base camp, 12 kilometers west-southwest, of the Khe Sanh Airfield, came under enemy artillery fire. They were:

Robert Lebrun, "Bobbie" to those that went to school with him at St. Joseph's School in Woonsocket, was born and raised there. Before he entered the Army, Robert was working at Barber's Electrical Company in Woonsocket. As an Infantry Operations and Intelligence specialist, SP4 Lebrun was also a dog handler for the Army. He did not have a dog as part of his duties in his Armored unit at that time.

Robert was survived by his brother Alfred A. (1951-1992), mother Therese A. (1926-2007) and his father Normand L. Lubrun (1926-1993) who were living on Burrington Street, Woonsocket at the time of Robert's death. Mrs. Lebrun was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late William and Alda (Lange) Dufault. The entire Lebrun family are all in plot J 016 in Saint Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham, Massachusetts.
