According to the Arizona Republic 1969 news article, Private First Class, James S Reynolds, U.S. Marine Corps
was killed in action in the Quang Nam Province
during the second Tet Offensive in February 1969. A native of Stillwater, Oklahoma, James Reynolds moved to the
Phoenix area in 1959. A resident of Litchfield Park, Reynolds attended Agua Fria Union High School and Glendale
Community College before joining the Marines in 1968. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

engaged the unit with Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), automatic weapons, and rifle fire near the Phuoc Hung village
complex in Hieu Duc District. The Marines took cover returning fire, radioed for assistance, and requested close air and
artillery support to combat the superior enemy force.
