I met Don at Fort Hood Texas during AIT.
We had a lot of laughs at the expense of his American Indian heritage.
Don never took us too seriously and was proud to be a Native American.
We shipped out on the USS UPSHUR and arrived in Nam in Oct 1967.
We were in different companies and only got together at the beer hall
or hanging around Hill 69 when we were in the rear at the same time.
We all missed him when he was killed.

He was a good soldier and a great friend.

Donny and I were good friends. We used to drag race his parents' 1957 Dodge against my mom's 1958 Chrysler Saratoga. The outcome was always 50-50, which kept us burning the streets of Okeene almost every weekend. He was liked by everyone.
