Roderick, Rod, Roddy!

He was a great brother and friend. He was my older brother and I adored him. We wrote many letters during his time in Vietnam and I still have every one of them.

He was a leader. His best friends put him at the top. Roddy got the girls and they loved him for that. When he was killed they all were in the service around the country and all came home and were his pallbearers.

Very interesting fact, Christmas of 1967 he made a recording for NBC sending good wished to his family and friends in Detroit. Two months after his death I started working at the local NBC radio station and they still had the Christmas messages from all the local soldiers. I was able to get tapes for my parents. It was hard years later to listen but his voice is still saved.

He was a proud soldier and when all his friends from Fort Lewis in Washington went to Vietnam he decided to volunteer to go along with them. He was to remain stateside but thought no way, I'm going with them. They sent a beautiful floral tribute to their fallen comrade. We still remember them to this day. If anyone out there knew him I would love to hear from you. He had some great pictures of many friends.

Sincerely,
Debbie (Wright) Hill
