Ronald Waldrop died near Dau Tieng in the summer of 1967. He was on guard duty with a friend, SSG James Mosgrove, who was also killed. They were ambushed by Viet Cong. "The Drop" was from California and was Regular Army. He was stationed at Ft. Lewis Washington and went to Vietnam in September 1966. He was in Headquarters Company, Mortar Platoon, 2/12 Infantry. The Drop was a fun-loving guy who has been missed by his friends from 2/12. He loved to sing songs informally around the base camp. Two of his favorites were "My Girl" and "What's become of the Broken Hearted."
