A Note from The Virtual Wall

On 5 April 1968 a UH-1D (tail number 66-16253) of the 192nd Assault Helicopter Company was making a combat extraction northwest of Phan Thiet in Binh Thuy Province. After loading 6 troops from C Company, 3rd Bn, 506th Infantry, the Huey lifted off, experienced a drop in engine RPM, and drifted into trees. The aircraft spun to the right and crashed. Three of the ten men aboard were killed; the other seven injured. The three dead were
