27 Oct 1997 "No greater love has a man than this; that he lay down his life for a friend. " John 15 Daddy got the news from some Army men when they found him in the milk barn, busy milking cows. I got the news from my Aunt when she collected me and my sister from school. One thing we are sure of, Floyd G lost his life saving others and that we are so proud of him. Floyd G was our big brother in life and in his death he left us with very big footsteps to fill. We all loved him and will miss him. I would love to hear from people who knew Floyd. Love, his little sister-Regina 10 May 2007 Floyd G Talley was the medic for the 1/46th Delta Company, he tended to the other two men that were killed in that battle on 6th December 1969. Charles first, Floyd G was tending him till Charles died there on the field, then right away was called to tend Richard and was shot himself as he was taking care of Richard and seriously wounded. He and Richard were medevaced out. This is the story I have been able to get on my brother and the other two men. I have been very lucky and fortunate to have met Richard's brother. Richard, Charles and Floyd G are heroes to us both, as are all the 58,000+ on the Wall and all their surviving brothers that meet at the Wall. We remember them every day. A Note from The Virtual Wall According to the December 1969 MACV Summary the 1st Bn, 46th Infantry was engaged about 22 miles southwest of Tam Ky on 06 December. The Summary says that two men were killed and one wounded in the action. Regina Talley confirms that her brother was the one wounded; the two men killed were SSG Charles G. Schwartz, Marthasville, MO, and CPL Richard M. Thompson, Fallbrook, CA (medic, HQ with Delta 1/46) Visit John Dennison's Medics on the Wall memorial which honors the Army Medics and Navy Corpsmen who died in Vietnam.
