23 May 2001 We miss you a lot. Thirty three years went by very quickly. Can you believe that Mom is turning 90 this year? Today is Sept. 12, 2006 ... the day after our nation recalled the sad events of 9-11 five years ago. Tragedy causes us all to stop and think and hopefully pray to be better people in this world. I still miss you a lot as you were one of the finest persons I was privileged to know ... and I wonder what you would have thought about the world today. I miss the chance to share with you the good memories of our growing-up years: Lake Cavanaugh, Alonzo!, and the Queen Anne years. Now both Mom and Dad are with you in heaven ... and Grandma too. 08 May 2004 2 Seattle Men Die In Vietnam Service - Two Seattle men were on the Vietnam war casualty list made public yesterday by the Defense Department. Army 2nd Lt. John J. O' Brien, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene F. O'Brien, 3737 13th Ave. W., was killed in action Monday. Reclassified from missing to dead from non-hostile causes was Warrant Officer Robert N. Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred S. Wright, 5114 17th Ave S. O'Brien, 22, was a 1964 graduate of Queen Anne High School. He attended Everett Community College, majoring in political science, two years before entering the Army in August, 1966. He had been in Vietnam about two weeks. O'Brien had been active in the Boy Scouts and was a ham radio operator. He obtained a pilot's license before entering the Army. Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Frank O'Brien, Seattle, and a sister, Kathleen O'Brien, at the family home. Wright, 31, attended Franklin High before entering the service in 1953. A Note from The Virtual Wall Bravo Company, 1/27th Infantry, lost four men on 15 April 1968 while fighting along the border between Gia Dinh and Binh Duong Provinces just northwest of Saigon: 2LT John J. O'Brien, Seattle, WA SP4 Kenneth D. Schwartz, Paso Robles, CA PFC James A. Tremblay, Glen Burnie, MD PFC Louis Williams, Chicago, IL The other officer mentioned above, Warrant Officer Robert N. Wright, was serving with the 329th Transportation Company (Heavy Boat) at Danang and was lost overboard. His body was later recovered.
