God rest your soul
for you were one of the brave men lost at such a young age.

The photo and following article is taken from The Philadelphia Daily News, special supplement entitled 'SIX HUNDRED AND THIRTY', October 26, 1987.

The Philadelphia native was "strenuously opposed to the war in Viet Nam," his mother said. Lord had discussed alternatives to military service, but elected to join the Army when his induction notice arrived in December 1968. He had attended North Penn High School in Lansdale. The 21-year-old corporal, a rifleman, was sent to Viet Nam in June 1969 and assigned to Company C of the 5th Battalion, 46th Infantry, 198th Light Infantry Brigade. Lord died at Chu Lai, Quang Tin Province, on September 22, 1969. He was survived by his parents and two brothers.
