Yesterday is History Uncle Papi, I did not get to meet you to know who you were, but your brother thought the world of you.
God Bless You! Your Niece although their Home of Record was Fort Knox.
From left, Miles Hilton Loper Junior; my father, Miles Joe Loper ("The Best Father in the World"); and their father, Miles Hilton Loper Senior.
Miles Joe Loper at Uncle Papi's gravesite in Arlington National Cemetery, paying his respects to his only brother. Miles Joe also served in Vietnam as an infantryman with the 4th Cavalry, 1st Infantry Division (he's still looking for Jodie Jones from Oklahoma). My Grandfather, Uncle and Father all served in the Army and now my husband and I hope that my soldiers' dreams don't become nightmares. I pray for all our soldiers and for all come home safely one day - let there be peace on earth. God bless my family, who are now sleeping and are at peace. |
Dear Uncle Miles
From his niece, |
My name is Willie James; I am retired US Army. Miles and I were stationed together at Fort Benning, Georgia. We were in the same platoon all the time and I guess I knew him as well as anyone. He was always smiling. I think of him all the time and would like to correspond with his family if they want to. My e-mail is williejames@yahoo.com. I guess I will always remember him and I am 66 years old now.
From a very close friend, |
died in the fighting in the Ia Drang Valley November 1965.
