REMEMBERED ACROSS THE YEARSby his family.E-mail address is not available. |
I knew Joel when we were in High School ... he was almost my first love. I introduced him to his wife Sharon one night at "The Flic" night club. He was one of my best friends ... and now ... all these years later ... I still miss him!! I love you, Joel, wherever you are!

Joel (Joe to his family and friends) was my first cousin. Our Uncle Leonard Callaway taught me to drive and the day I got my driver's license Joe went with us for me to take my test. I have a picture of him and me sitting on the front of Uncle Leonard's 1955 Pontiac that was taken when we arrived back at our grandparent's house. It is one of my most treasured photographs. Joe, like so many of our brave young men today, was "Gone too soon". God Bless you, Joe ... I will never forget you.
From a first cousin, |
Joe and I grew up on the same small town although he was 3-4 years older than me. His younger sister Terri and I were in the same grade, and Cindy, his second sister, was a year behind us. Joe was the same age as my older sister. So we all kind of knew each other. I remember Joe being one of the older boys riding the school bus to Aberdeen High, keeping watch over his two sisters and threatening to smack you if you didn't behave. Not being a bully, just being an older brother and upper classman! Summers were spent at Aberdeen Lake. In the Fall, there were high school football games pulling for the Red Devils. And cruisin' The Clam Box and Crowley's Park and Eat! Then, we all grew up and were drawn into different directions. You were called to fight for your country in a war that nobody really understood. But you answered the call and for that, I thank you! You are a Hero! I know that your family misses you and I hope that God has helped them understand. You will never be forgotten. God bless you, Joe.
