You served with my father during the war and when I was younger he took me to the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Washington D.C. to find your name. He told me how the two of you had switched jeep positions so that you could be in the front of a convoy to get some pictures of Vietnam as you were driving. A drive that would take you to the airport and eventually home, as your tour had ended. But it was a flight that you would never catch. Were it not for you being in the lead vehicle, it would have been my father who was killed instead. And if that had happened, I would never have come to be. So in a sense, your life and my life are connected. Connected in a strange, convoluted way that only a war could create.

Thank you, Lt. Hill. Thank you for your service to your country, and thank you for allowing others the opportunity to live.
