I did not personally know Charles Morris Burke, but I know that he deserves to be honored on this memorial. He was a hero.

When I put my own brother, PFC Danny L Stephens on The Virtual Wall memorial, I also thought of Charles Burke. My brother Danny was KIA on March 31, 1968 in Northern I Corps, Thua Thien. He served in the 2nd brigade, Co D, 1/501, 101st airborn.

I was looking back thru some of Danny's cards and letters and found a sympathy card from the family of Charles Burke. They lived down in the southern part of Louisiana in Mandeville. Charles' family tried to console my family when we were waiting on Danny's body to come home. We will never forget their sympathy.

I hope that Charles' family and friends will see this memorial and add pictures and the story of Charles' life to it. Charles, like Danny, was a true American hero. I want to wish his family all the best in the world.

From the brother of PFC Danny L Stephens, KIA,
Jimmy Stephens
