Pfc. Sammy L. Brewer was born and raised in Hohenwald, Tennesee. He attended Lewis County High School. Sammy and I attended school together. We worked after school at Seaton's Bi-Rite Grocery. Later we worked together at Lewis Products Laboratory.

Sammy entered the Army and was killed in action in the Mekong Delta while attempting to rescue a wounded soldier. His family received his medals posthumously including the National Defense Service Ribbon, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart.
