SSG Isreal Alecia-Melendez was wounded on from mortar fragments on the perimeter of the landing zone on 7 February 1967 and succumbed to those wounds three days later on the 10th. There were no other fatalities. He was survived by his brother Frank of New York. He was buried in Puerto Rico National Cemetery, Bayamon, Bayamon Municipality, Puerto Rico/
