Raymond and I grew up together in Oklahoma with him being raised most of the time by our grandparents in Ada but spending many summer months and weekends with our family in Oklahoma City. No one was ever more gentle and loving than Raymond. I never saw a child who didn't seek out his attention immediately after seeing him. He was quite charming to be around and really knew how to treat a lady with respect. We had quite a nice time in Monterey, California, when he visited me there a few months before he left for Vietnam. Some of his Army buddies were with us and when we came into a dance hall, me being the only female with about 6 GIs seemed to give one of the customers there the impression I might be a lady of the evening. When the guys heard this real jerk proposition me I had to have some sympathy for this fool because the whole bunch came down hard on him (not physically but certainly threateningly). Raymond came to my apartment in San Francisco right before he shipped out and he was a little frightened to leave but it didn't stop him from fulfilling his duty to his country and he died as a result. I will always miss him and would love to see other memories of him on the memorial page. If you knew him please say a little something about him in this memorial.
