We recently have had the pleasure of being in contact with your wife of that time, Diane. She has since been in touch with Bernie and Bruno, who survived the crash, and the healing could be felt throughout the 129th AHC. 14 Dec 2002 Claude, It's been over 30 years since we had the last flight together as a crew. Not a day goes by that I don't think of that day in the An Khe Pass. Anyway - Happy Birthday from the surviving crew members of the "426" I'll always remember you, Lt Tom Shaw, and Bruno Sanchez. From a surviving crewmember, Bernie Hernandez 27 Apr 2005 Claude, 33 years have gone by since we last had a mission together along with Lt.Shaw and Bruno Sanchez and the two South Korean Soldiers, I'll see you again someday. 17 Mar 2003 I just found this website in the past week thanks to contact with friends of the 129th A.H.C. Although it has been 31 years since he died at An Khe, his family and I think of Claud every day and remember his passion for flying, his patriotism, and his pride in what he was doing. We will continue to miss him and keep his memory alive with the new generations to come. 27 Apr 2004 April 27, 2004, 32 years ago today you lost your life in Vietnam. I am grateful to Bernie and Bruno for filling some of the blanks, just one year ago when I found the 129th website. You have been gone longer than you were here. Your friends, family, and Army colleagues continue to miss you and think of you every day. You made a difference in our lives with your kindness and wit, as well as how you could fill a room with your energy. In the last year, your brother has published a very successful book with many wonderful anecodotes of his childhood and you were in most of them. I laughed aloud at some of them. A Note from The Virtual Wall Two men of the 129th Assault Helicopter Company died in the crash of their UH-1 Huey (hull number 68-15426): WO1 Claud Paul Strother, pilot 1LT Thomas Francis Shaw, copilot The aircraft was on a resupply flight in support of Korean Army operations. Two other crewmen (crew chief SP4 B. E. Sanchez and gunner SP4 B. Hernandez) were injured and two Korean soldiers (names unknown) were killed. These men are also remembered by their comrades in the 129TH AHC
