The database page for Melvin L Reed, Jr
This is dedicated to my friend Melvin, May God be with him. Melvin L. Reed Jr. was killed on 12 Jan 1969 when the APC he was driving hit a mine. He was killed instantly, and at that point I lost a dear friend. Melvin L. Reed Jr was a young man with a bright future. He had a loving family and a fiancee waiting for him to come home. Melvin was my friend because he was a real swell guy. We told jokes to each other and talked about getting married when we got back to the world. We called each other bad names, but it was all in fun and no feelings were hurt. You see, Melvin was black and I am white. Melvin has been in my thoughts these last 34 years, and I will never forget him as long as I live. May God walk with him always.
