What If?

What if you had not lost your life on that rainy night in December, 1967?
What if God had not called you home to heaven?
We can only imagine!

What if all your dreams you had lived to fulfill?
What if calling you home after twenty-five years had not been His will?
We can only imagine!

What if, as you wrote in your letter, you had come home to be a pastor?
How many lives would you have touched over the past 39 years as you served the Master?
We can only imagine!

What if you had come home to become a husband, Dad, and Granddad?
What if your homecoming had made our hearts joyful and not sad?
We can only imagine!

What if your three sisters had been able to welcome you home?
What if they had not had to face the realization that you were actually gone?
We can only imagine!

What if you had once again been able to shoot baskets, hunt, and fish with your five brothers?
What if you could see how our family has grown to include so many others?
We can only imagine!

What if you saw CDs, DVDs, PCs, IMs, and the cell phones of today?
What would you say?
We can only imagine!

What if we had not followed the hearse bearing your flag-draped casket on that cold January day?
What if you and many others had not had freedoms price to pay?
Thanks to you, we dont have to imagine!

From his niece,
Rebecca Vincent
