In Loving Memory of my Uncle Dave

You are forever in my thoughts.

I only wish I had gotten the chance to know you.

For Always,

Your niece, Beth A Nazeck

Although I grieved over your loss a number of years after you passed, I grew to be a much stronger person over the years.

One never knows what a loss like this can do to a person. I routinely thank all who have served or continue to serve this great nation and pray regularly for them, wishing them a safe return to their families.

From his nephew,
Jeff

A Note from The Virtual Wall

On 23 Feb 1970, the 155th Assault Helicopter Company was tasked to provide airlift for a practice troop insertion by the ARVN ranger training group at Nha Trang. UH-1C tail number 66-00518 was the trailing aircraft during the insertion.

Unfortunately, the training exercise became all too real when 518 was shot down 22 miles southwest of Nha Trang, killing its four-man crew:

  • WO1 Paul Edward Dolik, pilot;
  • WO1 Joseph Frank Erickson, pilot;
  • SP5 David Joseph Nachtigall, crew chief; and
  • SP4 Calvin Ernesto Serain, gunner.
