From Manning, South Carolina
17 May 1940 - 20 December 1965
As a young girl of 10 or 12 years old during the Vietnam War I was moved to get an MIA bracelet. Through all these years, I have kept that bracelet with me.
Now at the age of 50, the meaning of that bracelet during these difficult times for our troops is magnified.
I began again wearing my bracelet for Captain Mims, Jr. after the attack on the World Trade Center.
The vigil for him is still alive in my heart. My appreciation for him and others like him has gone far beyond that little piece of metal I wear around my wrist.
I will always have a deep, profound connection to Captain Mims, Jr.
I still wait to hear of his return.
God bless America.
And, God bless Captain George I. Mims, Jr. and all who have made that ultimate sacrifice.
