A beloved High School friend, of whom I had the privilege to be reunited at Fort Eustis, Virginia, and made a special trip in his small winged aircraft to Fort Story, Virginia, just to visit a High School chum. I will never forget him.

A Note from The Virtual WallShortly after 9 AM on 28 Dec 68, Major William E. McDonald, Commanding Officer of the 10th Aviation Battalion, took off in UH-1D tail number 64-13668 on an administrative flight. Eight passengers were aboard in addition to the four-man crew.Take-off was normal and the aircraft proceeded in a northeasterly direction over a rubber tree plantation. The UH-1 had travelled approximately 1 kilometer from takeoff when it crashed, killing five men and injuring the other seven. The dead were
