The database page for Warren L Long
I am the oldest daughter of Major Warren L. Long. I am attempting to locate persons who served with him. He was stationed at Elmendorf from 59-63, Pope from 63-65, Langley from 65-68 when he was sent to Vietnam. He was killed in Taiwan in a C-130 crash with 12 men near the end of the runway. He was the copilot on this mission. He was buried in his home town of Wauchula, FL, leaving his widow Marian and three children. I am attempting to gather info from those who served with him for his four grandchildren who never knew him. Thank you for your assistance.

I knew Huey Long when we served together at Pope AFB, NC 1964-65. He was one of the Stan/Eval pilots and everyone knew him. He led the formation that dropped paratroops to rescue hostages held by Simba Rebels in the Congo in Thanksgiving Week, 1964. I was shocked when I heard that he had been killed.
