I met Paul in boot camp in 1964. After boot camp at PI we were assigned to 1st Plt, Alpha 1/6 Marines at Lejuene. We ended up in the Dominican Campaign of 1965. Paul was loaned out to the base MPs for a while and later after our stint with 1/6, we were sent to Camp Pendleton for forming of 3/26 at Las Pulgas. One of the last stateside weekenders we made took us to Mexico. Ken Magyar and Paul and I ended up on the sidewalk of the bus station in Oceanside. I was the only one who had any cash left, but we caught a cab back to the barracks. Paul was transferred out of 3/26 at the same time Ken and I were mixed in with the other units in April/May 67. Ken ended up with 2/9 and I was in Fox 2/26. I had heard Paul was killed up north by a rocket attack but did not know until today exactly where that happened (Khe Sanh with A/1/26). Paul was a great friend and would do anything for you, and he was a squared-away Marine ... ask anyone who knew him.
