Captain Green's family and my family were among the few who did not surrender to the Japanese Occupation Forces in the Philippines. Instead, we hid in the thick jungles and aided the guerilla units in their struggle against the Japanese. We joined the Army together at Clark AFB, Philippines. I was sent to Fort Ord, CA, for Basic Training, while he was sent elsewhere and we lost contact. We met again when I got assigned to Fort Bragg, NC. Captain Green and Sergeant First Class Domingo R. S. Borja are my son's Godfathers. May they both rest in peace. I miss you both. |
