23 Apr 2007 I served in the United States Marine Corps form 1984 to 1988 and upon my completion of duty I wanted to pay honor to the fallen heros that served before me. I received my MIA/POW bracelet in 1988 and have not taken it off since. I asked for someone that once lived in Minnesota and was a Marine. Even though I have never met Col Allen E. Fellows - I honor him. I will continue to bring awareness to his cause and many others like him. I pray for him and his family. Michael Hertle mhertle93@hotmail.com

 

Notes from The Virtual Wall On 20 March 1968, a COVEY Forward Air Controller from the 20th Tactical Air Support Squadron, Major Allen E. Fellows, flying O-2A tail number 67-21338, departed Danang Air Base for a FAC mission in Laos. He simply disappeared over southern Laos somewhere in the vicinity of Ban Gnang. Search and rescue efforts failed to locate either the aircraft or Major Fellows, who was placed in "Missing in Action" status. Fellows was carried as MIA for over ten years, receiving two promotions, before the Secretary of the Air Force approved a Presumptive Finding of Death on 05 May 1978. Colonel Fellows served during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. As of 07 Mar 2003 he has not been repatriated.
