You told me more than once that I was going to die,
You bragged to be the best point man in Vietnam,
Once we sang a song to you that now seems a funny tribute,
You fell that night in a rice paddy,
I cry tears because I can't remember what you looked like,
Even though the cause was a fool's errand,
Perhaps there is an America that is to be,
Now we remember you together,
