A Note from The Virtual WallThe following text is extracted from a message sent by the III MAF Command Center on 08 March 1969:
The location given is on the coastal railroad about 5 kilometers north-northwest of Duc Pho. Given the location and the composition of the US force - combat engineers and infantrymen - it seems likely that a mine sweep team was ambushed by NVA/VC troops while checking the railroad for mines.
