A Note from The Virtual Wall

Three men from the 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry were killed in action in Cambodia on 13 May 1970:
  • 1LT Thomas W. Matthews, Chattanooga, TN, "C" Company
  • SGT Walter M. Novak, Nanticoke, PA, HQ Company
  • CPL William M. Cozad, Muscatine, IA, "B" Company
In a coincidence, the only other "Cozad" who died in Vietnam, SP4 Jerry L. Cozad of Lincoln, Nebraska and A Battery, 1/21 Artillery, was killed in action a few miles distant and a few days later - on 16 May 1970.
