He was a close friend of my brother.
From someone who remembers. |
He was my uncle. I never met him but have heard really great stories from my mom about him pinstriping bicycles for the neighborhood kids. Steady hand, I guess.
From his niece. |
I went through basic training with Carson at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He was a squad leader for 1st squad and I was squad leader for 3rd squad. He was six years older than I and much wiser at leading his squad. I learned a lot from him and to this day think of him often. He loved drag racing. I'am proud to have known him - he was a swell guy. I went to the Wall in 1984 and looked up his name and had a big cry. I remember the night before graduation from basic we snuck some booze into the barracks and got drunk and had some good laughs. We were going to get together after we got out of service and do it again. Carson, you might be gone, but you're not forgotten.
