A Note from The Virtual WallThe Batangan Peninsula, located about 20 kilometers south of Chu Lai, was a hotbed of VC activity. Between 7 and 13 October 1968 the 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry conducted Operation LOGAN FIELD, a sweep of parts of the 15 kilometer long peninsula. The 48th VC Local Force Battalion and P-31 VC LF Company could not be brought to battle, and the operation was not particularly productive in terms of enemy equipment captured or destroyed. Known VC and US casualties were about equal - 17 VC known dead and 16 Americans killed:
