Corporal Jim Craft was a Marine to his dying moment. He died of his wound at Bridge 28, 8 kilometers out of Ca Lu, RVN. His sacrifice and the deaths of his fellow Marines that day contributed to stopping two divisions of NVA and their Chinese advisors from occupying the abandoned firebase of Khe Sahn and developing an anti-aircraft missile base there. His last thoughts were of his family.
