My memory of you still carries on even though I really can't remember you. A card I read when I was small, let me know you loved me so. I was born in February 1965. The card I had was from Easter, it said:
Those words I have never let go of. I know that you held me and loved, that is what they said. But, right before you got to come home your name was added to the list of the dead. Just a few days before I was one our parents got the letter that made them so blue. But, as you can see I'm still here just waiting for the day to talk to you!!!!
In our memory you always are. I've taught my children just who you are. A young man at 20 who got shot, who really did not want to go but, they had his spot. They see how I love you and we decorate your grave. Your name will live on forever!!! Forever in our hearts!!!
6 Nov 2004 Your name is carried on. Having been allowed the opportunity to give my Grandson his middle name I gave him yours!!! We took him to the Moving Wall today, it's his first time there. He touched your name and I told him that he had a very special guardian angel. Really weird, but right below it was a man whose name was the last name of his. So, here's to your legend!!!! Your great nephew Alexander Edward
From his sister, |
Even though I never knew you, someday I will,
To finally get to meet you and know who you are,
I know you are a hero and your name is now fame,
You were a brother and an uncle, a son and a cousin,
You fought for our country and stood your ground,
I thank God today for men like you, where would these people or us be,
Thanks again, "Genie boy", your memory will never be lost
