REMEMBEREDGilbert served 15 years for this Country. On his first tour of duty in Vietnam in 1967 with the Big Red One he was wounded. After recovery, he chose to return to Vietnam to "be with his men" as he said. He was killed in action during his second tour of duty. Should any soldiers who were with Gil during his last battle read this, please contact me.
From his nephew, 13 Feb 2007 I want to thank Michael L. Mullenix and Carl Hiestand who were there when my uncle was killed. I appreciate you guys reliving that nightmare, so you can bring this family the story of Uncle Gil. You cannot imagine the comfort in knowing the circumstances surrounding his death. Our family is proud, his name and spirit live on through you and us. I also want to thank the others, Ken Davis, Jerald Coleman, Terry Boone and Jack, who have done well in leading me in the right direction to find Mike and Carl. Again, thank you .. all.
