My fondest memory of Richard is a visit to his Dad's farm just before he left for Vietnam. A few of us drove over to wish him well and he was very sweet about it. He didn't seem worried and we were proud of him. Years later I retrieved his name off of the Memorial Wall and I wanted to give it to his parents because I didn't think that they would get a chance to go to Washington but I never did. I'll remember him on his birthday tomorrow and always. God Bless him and his family and the America that he died for. I know he wouldn't recognize it today. I prefer to remember America that way as well when real heroes loved this country and thought it worth dying for.
