A Note from The Virtual WallOn 09 March 1967 an enemy force estimated at 125 to 150 men launched a night attack against a 3/12 Infantry platoon outpost at the junction of National Highway QL-1 and Route 6B, about 5 kilometers northwest of Tuy An. Ten soldiers in the outpost died in the fighting, which lasted until about 12:45 AM.A mechanized reaction force from 1/10 Cavalry was dispatched when word of the attack was first received, but two vehicles struck mines while en route, killing three cavalrymen. The cavalry force closed on the 1/12 position at 2:30 AM and did not engage the enemy. The thirteen US soldiers were killed in the two incidents were
