I have so often thought of how our St. Mary's Grade School 7th grade class sang at his funeral and of how we then went to the American Legion afterwards. His sister, Kay, was in my class, so of course the war really hit home to us. I had never been confronted with the reality of war in a very personal way until then, though I had heard so many talk of the World Wars and my father was in the Korean War before I was born. I thought of this all day today with this being Memorial Day and sat in remembrance as I looked up information on him. My father told me he knew Bill well and that Bill was a Navy Corspman. I was a Registered Nurse for several years and talked with many Vietnam War Veterans who still suffer from the effects of war - physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Our country still needs to heal from the Vietnam War. The price of freedom is not free. Many young people today do not know the cost of the freedoms they enjoy today. In High School we heard the numbers of injured and killed in action on the news every night. It is a time I will never forget. God Bless the U.S.A.

The three men were
