What a tragic loss!Captain Bennett was the finest CO - Company C, 1/327th Infantry, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division - we could have asked for. He was a breath of fresh air to his troops. He was a people-person who was genuinely interested in each of his troops. He had the charisma to somehow enoble each one he met - a rare quality on the battlefield. His loss to us was tragic. A Brigadier General spent the night with Charlie Company on the ground near the contact site - a gesture that was unparalleled during my tour with our storied division.
If Captain Bennett has family living, I would consider it an honor to relay more information.
