He was lovingly known as "Jake" to his family and friends. Jake grew up in Sacramento, California. He lived just up the street from us. His family moved here from Modesto, California before he was born. Jake was quite a joker - he made everyone laugh. He loved to tease his twin brothers David and Dennis. On one leave from service he even handcuffed Dennis to a bar for about an hour. Jake left the bar and no one had a key of course. So Dennis sat there until Jake came back. He loved his family very much and we all miss him. Jake lived his life to the fullest. His Mother worked for the Sacramento Army Depot, as did my father (her brother). My mother was his Aunt Nellie who he came to when ever he needed someone to talk to. Just wanted to let everyone that reads this to know how much he is loved and where he came from. My message to Jake is hope you're haveing a good time up there with all our family and I'll see ya when my time comes.

I can still hear your voice at LZ Two Bits. You were a good sergeant and you used to say to me, "It's Maloney and his little people". You were one of the better sergeants. I was only age 19 at the time. I will never forget you. Take care.

I find it very hard to believe that it has been forty years since we lost Jake. I try to attend every Veterans Day ceremony at our local cemetery to honor him and all the other veterans who have lost their lives. This year's ceremony seemed to hold special meaning as I thought about it being the 40th anniversary of Jake's death. He will remain one of my favorite cousins. I know he is up there aggravating his mom and his Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Dave. He's had so many join him in the last forty years, including three of his brothers. Keep them all entertained, Jake. I'm sure Bob and Moo are keeping you on the right track.
